In her heart, Bonnie Broh-Kahn ‘77 believes that kindness shines through the most during trying times. She and her husband, Jere, are exemplifying this spirit during the current challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic through their recent donation of $1 million bequest to University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).
In her 2004 open letter to the association’s members, she asked her fellow alumni to imagine where they would be without their degrees from UMGC. For most, education led to significant changes in their lives, paved the way for promotions or career changes, opened cultural doors, and offered new ways of thinking. She challenged them to now help someone else.
When Robert Alonso Jr. ’08 was a graduate student at UMGC, he didn’t realize that the University would continue to shape his life for years to come. Since then, he’s dedicated nearly 15 years of his time and talent to strengthening the UMGC community.
